Functional specifications

Both for the preparation of tender specifications and for the design of a system, functional specifications are crucial for the success of the system's implementation. Solution-oriented performance specifications for a tender do not only lead to a small field of applicants, but also raise patent law issues. Hence, we offer functional specifications in all levels of detail for successful projects.

Functional specifications of a road user charging system or an ITS system are the core of every performance specification of a public tender or, as use cases or user stories, the basis for technical specifications and implementation. Particularly with regard to a public procuement procedure, we draft functional requirements in coordination with our client in a technology- and solution-neutral manner in order to enable a broad field of applicants on the one hand and to avoid potential patent conflicts on the other.

End-to-end processes can be derived from the requirements and, in a further level of detail, also use cases and/or user stories. From these, the functionality of each individual function module can be specified. While in use cases the actors can be system components in automated processes, in user stories the actors are the users of the system. In our view, both perspectives are relevant for a consistent specification of a system, regardless of whether the system is implemented in a waterfall model or in SCRUM. Our broad experience in the tendering and implementation of RUC and ITS projects throughout Europe and partly beyond makes us an ideal partner for the public sector and industry.
