GO-Maut 2.0 Austria - Migration of the tolling system to a new generation of tolling technology

GO toll (GO-Maut), the Austria-wide toll system for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, is ready for the future. At the end of June 2018, the world's first complete renewal of a nationwide tolling system was successfully completed during ongoing operation.

Rapp already played a key role in the specification and testing of the DSRC toll system as well as in setting up the operator organisation for Europass, a 100% subsidiary of Autostrade per Italia, during the construction of GO toll 1.0.

When it came to the procurement of the second generation of the toll system, Rapp was commissioned to accompany this process from the very beginning. Of ASFINAG's approximately 2 billion euros in toll revenues, those from GO toll account for two thirds. The smooth and timely handling of the tender and the rollout of the new toll system "GO toll 2.0" was therefore a top priority.

In a consultancy assignment lasting several years, Rapp supported ASFINAG in the definition of the procurement strategy, in the preparation of the tender documents as well as in the evaluation of the offers and in the implementation of the GO toll 2.0 regarding technical consultancy and project management. In addition to the desired "technology refresh", thanks to the GO toll 2.0 tender, the annual operating costs were also significantly reduced and the economic objectives of the client were thus more than met.
