For more than 20 years Rapp consultants have been active in standardisation for various clients. Their work is highly appreciated by public members as well as industry members. Both broad and in-depth knowledge in the fields of RUC and ITS, allow us to efficiently support joint solutions.
Rapp is actively involved in the development of tolling and ITS standards for CEN and ISO. To this end, also the field of frequency regulation is being closely monitored. For example, making the 5 GHz band usable for non-toll services will affect toll collection and enforcement using microwave. This is not only about potential interference with ITS-G5 systems (in Germany especially the interference between ITS-G5 and CEN DSRC for enforcement), but also about potential interference with other (non-ITS) services based on WAS/RLAN.
Rapp has therefore recommended that the BMVI takes an active role in the discussion on the protection of microwave-based toll enforcement, for example to make statements on behalf of German government agencies to the ECC and WRC-15 to protect ITS services (including toll collection) from interference by other (non-)ITS services.
