The research project "Prautocol" deals with the certification of drivers and vehicles in the field of automated driving with the aim of strengthening the position of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The influence of automated systems in the car is beyond the car itself. The driving tasks and responsibilities of the driver and the competences required of the user of a self-driving car will change enormously in the (near) future. One of the work packages in Prautocol, WP2, therefore focused on licensing the driver.
Rapp was leader of work package WP2 and also contributed to knowledge development in WP2. The main objective of WP2 was to develop and evaluate tools to support human examiners who need to certify drivers of automated vehicles. Prautocol focused in particular on SAE automation level 3 by first investigating level 1 and 2 systems. In addition, two use cases were defined: Motorway driving (especially for cars) and automatic docking (for trucks).
